Six Show Stoppers for Palma Superyacht Brokerage and Charter Show.

The six yachting businesses behind the newly formed Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA) have each divulged their pick of the superyacht bunch for the Superyacht Brokerage and Charter Show – a Show-within-a-Show at the 30th edition of Mallorca’s Palma International Boat Show held from 1 to 5 May.

Now with more than 40 superyachts between 24 and 65 metres confirmed, the Superyacht Brokerage and Charter Show is a new initiative set to highlight the importance of the superyacht industry and the significant foreign revenue inflow and local employment it generates on the Island. Superyachts have formed a substantial part of the Balearics yachting community for decades and it’s only fitting that they should have a strong presence at this annual nautical festival. Here’s what you can expect to see on the sea...

SY Ithaka - Dahm International: A wonderful 2007 Jongert 2700M, Ithaka was purpose-built by her owner to follow the legendary travels of Odysseus but with today’s state-of-the-art naval architecture and technology. The deep midnight blue hull was designed by American Doug Peterson and her sail handling is simple, even with a small crew, thanks to a well conceived deck layout including captive winches, a carbon mast, full set of North Sail 3DLs and the 3.05m wing keel. Designed for blue water sailing and anchoring in shallow bays as well as racing in regattas, Ithaka has a comfortable five-cabin interior finished in pear wood with titanium detail. Kept in perfect condition, the yacht is ready to set sail immediately.

MY Emotion – Burgess Yachts: From the CRN shipyard in Ancona, Emotion is an elegant 2007 43m yacht that had a complete exterior repaint, technical overhaul, AV upgrade and stunning interior refit just last year in 2012. She has a modern, stylish and luxurious onboard environment with a host of impressive features for a yacht of her size including five guest cabins, surround sound cinema, spacious sundecks and a fully equipped gymnasium which opens onto a beach club with dropdown swim platform.

SY Hetairos – Ocean Independence: From German shipbuilders Abeking & Rasmussen, this 1993 42.84m sailing yacht displays extraordinary quality and craftsmanship. Arguably the finest modern classic afloat, Hetairos has great lines and superb pedigree having won the Maxi World Cup back in 2010. Ideal for a passionate sailor, she has been exceptionally well maintained and is available for immediate inspection and sea trials.

MY Why Worry – Camper & Nicholsons: A slick Italian Maiora design from Roberto del Re’s drawing board, Why Worry is a 2008 39.6m in pristine condition after very little use. Fully equipped, including zero speed stabilisers, she accommodates up to 12 guests in five cabins, plus seven crew, in a contemporary bright comfortable interior. Boasting two MTUs she reaches top speeds of 32 knots, cruising around 27 knots.

SY Imagine – Fraser Yachts: Built at Alloy Yachts in 1993 as a truly worldwide cruiser with maximum comfort and proven great performance, this yacht was a trendsetter at launch and still feels just as contemporary today. The timeless Ed Dubois signature design offers sleek lines and clean deck space. Recently refitted and updated by her very demanding owner, 33.6m Imagine is now ready to go.

MY Las Brisas – Northrop & Johnson: This 2002 San Lorenzo 100 (30m) accommodates nine guests in four cabins alongside five crew. Modern yet timeless, Las Brisas has an enormous main salon plus a dining salon perfect for starlit meals under the skylight. Up top, the flybridge has lounging sofas, sunbeds and the possibility to create a large al fresco dining area.

International Yacht brokers organize
1st Palma Superyacht Brokerage & Charter Show,
1 – 5th May 2013

Six Yacht Brokers, all with offices in Palma, Mallorca, are organising the 1st Superyacht Brokerage & Charter Show following on from their successful event “Mallorca Superyacht Days” held in Port Adriano last year.

Burgess Yachts, Camper & Nicholsons International, Dahm International, Fraser Yachts, Northrop and Johnson and Ocean Independence have joined together to form the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA) which is behind this initiative.

The Show will form part of the Palma Boat Show, held on the same dates, but will be exclusively for yachts with a minimum length of 24m. The location in the historical centre of Palma makes it within walking distance from some of the most exclusive shops, restaurants and hotels on the island.

“It just made complete sense to combine our Superyacht Brokerage and Charter show with the Palma Boat Show. We are convinced that this new format will be a positive move for both events”, says Arne Ploch from Camper & Nicholsons International.

BYBA has signed a three year agreement with the Balearic Islands’ Government, organisers of the Palma Boat Show, to consolidate Mallorca and in particular Palma, as a strategic centre for large yachts in the Mediterranean. Already well known for its impressive refit and repair facilities many international companies are choosing to open up offices here, which in turn, benefits Palma in general.
